Marti Ann Moreland’s first encounter with the harp was when she was a small child, and her mother actively played. She fell in love with the instrument as she grew, and eventually adopted music as her lifestyle of choice. A native of East Texas, Marti Ann studied harp performance at the University of North Texas college of music with Dr. Jaymee Haefner, while minoring in social science, and is currently pursuing her masters in music at the University of Miami under the tutelage of Laura Sherman.

She has studied with Marion Schaffer of Vanderbilt University, Emily Mitchell, harp instructor at Stephen F. Austin University and Brieta Allison of Longview Texas.

Marti Ann received second prize at the University of Tulsa’s Midwest Harp Competition in the Advanced I and II divisions, and was a semi-finalist in the Anne Adams harp competition in 2018. She has performed in masterclasses for Russian harpist Sasha Boldechev, Emily Levin of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and Maria Luisa Ryan, and worked with composer Paul Patterson. She is a part of the internationally recognized UNT Harpbeats and had the honor of performing with them at the 2017 World Harp Congress in Hong Kong, and at the 2018 Lyon and Healy Summer concert series in Chicago. Along with studying religion at the collegiate level, Marti Ann loves to read about different faiths and schools of thought in her own time, and is passionate about learning more about philosophy of music within religion.

Marti Ann loves teaching and believes in building a foundation of mindfulness at the harp. She has a passion for reading and gardening, and spends her free time with her friends, family, and precious animals.
